PAPA ROACH Singer Admits Struggle To Stay Clean

The Pulse of Radio reports: PAPA ROACH singer Jacoby Shaddix has been clean and sober for more than four years, but he admits that it isn't always easy to stay on the wagon. The 32-year-old vocalist, whose group just completed the Crüe Fest tour with MÖTLEY CRÜE, BUCKCHERRY and others, told The Pulse of Radio that he's been struggling to keep his demons at bay. "You know, that's been an issue for me," he said. "I've been having a really hard time with that, man, you know, trying to keep my head straight. It's a tough thing, man, 'cause it's like, I want to escape, I don't want to feel sometimes, you know, and that's like...it's been cool to be out on tour with some sober cats though, you know, and be able to, like, bond with those guys and see that I can do this. So I'd said right now, like, you know, I'm a little shaky, but it's all right."

Shaddix added that his struggle with sobriety is behind many of the lyrics on PAPA ROACH's upcoming album, "Metamorphosis".

"Metamorphosis" was originally slated to come out this fall, but will now arrive in March of 2009.

The new CD will follow up 2006's "The Paramour Sessions". It marks the recording debut of ex-UNWRITTEN LAW drummer Tony Palermo, who replaced founding drummer Dave Buckner last year.

PAPA ROACH will begin a new trek with STAIND and SEETHER on October 4 in Columbia, Maryland.
